Car crash kills man

A BERWICK man has died after his car hit a tree on Robinsons Road in Langwarrin last week.
Police said the man, 46, was driving a modified 1942 Willys Coupe to a car club meeting in Moorooduc when the car hit a gum tree at about 5pm on Tuesday 2 December. The impact forced the car’s dashboard into the cabin.
The man received severe injuries to his knees, wrists and ribs.
Police said the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening at the time of the accident, but the man died in The Alfred hospital at 2.40am on 4 December as a result of internal injuries received in the crash.
The car’s only passenger, a 43-year-old man from Langwarrin, was taken to hospital with a fractured skull.
Police are investigating whether speed or a mechanical fault contributed to the accident.
