STUDENTS from an Endeavour Hills school have rallied to support one of their own, with a day devoted to raising diabetes awareness.
Southern Cross Primary School last week hosted a Be Active Day, which was headed by Grade 5 student Chloe Appelman.
The 11-year-old was diagnosed with diabetes on 8 August and, according to teacher Dr Andree Rodwell, she is managing very well.
“She injects herself with insulin before and after school and regularly checks her readings,” Dr Rodwell said.
Students participated in a variety of games on the day and got the opportunity to meet Storm, a blue heeler cross, which also suffers from diabetes.
