A BERWICK school is celebrating after one of its students scored the highest VCE result in the history of the school.
Kambrya College student Mao Yuan Liu received a 99.65 ENTER score, gaining a perfect study score of 50 for chemistry and 48 for specialist mathematics. Principal Michael Muscat said the school community was “over the moon” at Mao’s results.
“It’s a joyful moment as it’s the best mark any student has received at the school,” he said.
“It’s a stunning result and he will be presented with a Premier’s award for achieving the perfect score.”
The 18-year-old has already been snapped up by Monash University, scoring a scholarship to study chemical engineering.
Mao told the News it was hard work and persistence that got him across the line.
Year 12 coordinator and chemistry teacher Lauren Sach said she was very proud of Mao’s result.
“He has gone above and beyond with the amount of hard work he has put into this year,” she said.
