WHILE Victoria was grateful for the weekend’s rain, the state’s cricketers could be forgiven for being annoyed as all Saturday games were washed out.
Premier Cricket side Casey-South Melbourne might be the exception to the rule after escaping another imminent defeat at the hands of Camberwell.
The Swans were defending 167 and the Magpies were already on 2/58 heading into day two and looked likely to take the points.
The Swans will face their final opponent of 2008, Fitzroy-Doncaster, in a one-day clash this Saturday at Schramms Reserve at 11am, before the holiday break.
The wet weather denied Endeavour Hills a chance to jump up the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association ladder, halting play with The Hills chasing Brighton’s day-one score of 9/228.
Endeavour Hills remains eighth on the ladder, the last of six sides equal on 21 points, but has a chance to jump up with a one-dayer against Malvern this Saturday at Sydney Pargeter Reserve from 12.30pm.
The Dandenong District Cricket Association will have a round of one-dayers this weekend after the first day of the planned two-day games was washed out.
The highlight of the round will undoubtedly be top side Springvale South taking on reigning premier and fourth-placed Berwick at Alex Nelson Reserve.
Berwick had a sluggish start to the season, but has found form in recent weeks and is coming off an outright victory over Coomoora.
