A HAMPTON Park brother and sister team pivoted across the floor at the 2008 Australian Dancesport Championships.
Joshua and Shanice Fernandez took on some of the country’s best ballroom dancers and bettered their previous results at the competition, which was held from Wednesday 10 to Saturday 13 December at the Hisense Arena in Melbourne.
The pair made it through to the semi-finals in the level two Latin event and the level one New Vogue event, and finished up in the second round of the level two Modern and New Vogue events.
The couple, who train at Bagheera’s The Dance Place in Hallam, competed in the junior section, which is for dancers aged 13 to 16 years.
Joshua, 14, said they were extremely happy with their results.
“We got a better result than last year so we are continuing to improve,” he said.
Shanice, who has been dancing for seven years, said she enjoyed watching the professional dancers.
“Watching them makes me want to be a world champion one day,” she said.
