ART enthusiasts are in for a treat with three exhibitions being unveiled at the City of Casey’s Civic Centre Art Space.
Forms and Pattern by Philippa Taylor, Treasures by Deb Parker and Hill Tribes by Ken Robertson will be showcased until 29 January in the council offices in Narre Warren. The Hill Tribes exhibition features photographs showing the plight of minority hill tribes in northern Thailand, Myanmar and Laos. The clay works in the Forms and Pattern exhibition reflect the forms and patterns seen in nature through both shape and decoration.
“These works convey my interest in natural forms and patterns found in nature,” Ms Taylor said.
The Treasures exhibition features handmade necklaces and earrings created from beads, semi-precious stones, crystals and freshwater pearls.
“When I create a new piece of jewellery it begins from one bead, either an unusually shaped or coloured strand of freshwater pearls or an interesting semi-precious bead or pendant,” Ms Parker said.
“I then play around with the colours, textures, shapes and lengths, introducing unusual combinations to produce something original.”
The Civic Centre Art Space is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm, excluding public holidays.
Entry is free and most artworks are available for purchase.
