DETECTIVES investigating the shooting of a Keysborough man found lying beside his car in Hallam last week believe they may have found the scene of the attack.
The armed crime taskforce swooped on a property at Anaconda Road in Narre Warren on Friday afternoon, but there were no arrests and no charges were laid.
At about 4.25am last Thursday, a passer-by found a 32-year-old man with gunshot injuries to his stomach.
He was beside the car, a silver Holden Commodore station wagon, near the intersection of the Princes and South Gippsland highways at Hallam.
The man was treated at the scene by ambulance crews before being taken to The Alfred hospital in a critical condition.
Police set up a crime scene along the inbound lane of the Princes Highway to search for evidence.
Detective Sergeant Andrew Stamper said police were investigating a range of possibilities for the shooting, including that it was the result of a road-rage incident.
A 33-year-old man from Rowville is assisting police with their inquiries.
