EVENT planners and party-goers are gearing up for Australia Day Celebrations, but police are warning everyone to be responsible during festivities.
Sergeant Jamie Stuart said police would crack down on party-goers who created an unsafe environment for the general public.
“The main thing is that people need to act responsibly,” he said. “They need to stay in check with their consumption of alcohol and have a safe ride home.”
Sgt Stuart said police also were concerned about party-goers consuming too much alcohol, and as a result, harming themselves or injuring others.
“There are also a lot of health issues that can affect someone from drinking too much,” he said.
“But some people who drink too much can become violent, which is something that we are very concerned about here in Casey and we are always trying to reduce.”
Sgt Stuart suggested that anyone holding a party, register with the City of Casey’s Party Safe Program.
“People should seek advice from the City of Casey and register with Party Safe,” he said. “They can contact their local police station or go on the City of Casey website and read the information provided.”
