DOVETON and Eumemmerring will celebrate Australia Day in style with a day of diverse cultural food, entertainment, children’s activities and sport.
The Australia Day Committee, with assistance from Doveton and Eumemmerring Neighbourhood Renewal, is organising the event, which will take place from 11am to 3pm at Autumn Place Gardens, Paperback Street, Doveton. It is sponsored by the City of Casey.
There will be a range of activities including live entertainment, food stalls, market stalls and sporting workshops. Children can also celebrate with fun activities, including art and crafts, indigenous painting workshops, face painting and a jumping castle.
Entertainer Wendy Stapleton will be the Australian Day ambassador and will give a short address on what Australia Day means to her.
Anthony Byrne MP, the federal MP for Holt, will present the Holt Australia Day Awards, in a ceremony guaranteed to recognise the achievements of people in the community.
The event is smoke and alcohol free, and everyone is encouraged to bring their own picnics, rugs and chairs, as well as be sun smart by donning a hat and sunscreen.
