PERFORMERS will get their chance to belt out their best at this year’s Berwick Show Idol.
The new competition will be held as part of the entertainment program on Saturday 28 February. Narre Warren South singer Naomi Horsley, the winner of the 2007 Casey Idol, will co-produce the event with Casey councillor Wayne Smith.
All money raised from the event will go to the Cancer Council of Victoria’s Relay for Life fundraiser, a team event to fight cancer held at Akoonah Park on 13 and 14 March.
All potential performers, vocalists and instrumentalists, must take part in an audition prior to the event.
Auditions will be held at the City of Casey council offices in the meeting room 7 on Friday 6 February from 6pm to 8pm and Saturday 7 February from 3pm to 5pm. There will be two competition sections, one for those under 16 years and one for those 16 and over.
Competitors may appear only in one act and acts are restricted to a maximum number of four performers.
Dancers and bands will not be able to enter the competition.
All competitors will be asked to pay a $10 entry fee at the audition and anyone wishing to attend the auditions as an audience member will be asked to make a gold coin donation.
The Berwick Show Idol finalists will take centre stage at 5.45pm on Saturday 28 February. The competition is sponsored by Beaconsfield’s Central Hotel, with cash prizes being awarded to the first three place-getters in each section. The winners of the competition and invited finalists will appear in a free concert staged at the Central Hotel in the family bistro on Saturday 7 March kicking off at 9pm.
For audition inquiries and bookings contact Naomi Horsley on 0404 898 418 or email naomi@horsley.id.au
