Jet ski death probe

POLICE are investigating a jet ski mishap last Friday that killed a Ferntree Gully girl and left a Narre Warren girl with internal injuries.
Police said the incident took place on the Murray River, near Moama, about 4pm.
A jet ski was towing the 14-year-old Narre Warren girl and the 13-year-old Ferntree Gully girl on a flotation device when it’s believed to have struck a submerged object, possibly a tree trunk.
The 13-year-old was taken to Echuca Hospital but died a short time later from suspected head and internal injuries. The Narre Warren girl was in a stable condition.
A 52-year-old Melbourne man at the controls of the jet ski has provided a statement to police.
