CUSTOMERS were evacuated from McDonald’s Fountain Gate last month as a fire engulfed the golden arches sign on the roof causing $12,000 worth of damage.
Restaurant manager Lauree Barlow told the News the fire started as a result of an electrical problem on 30 December about 3.45am.
“A customer was coming through the drive-though and saw the flames,” she said.
The restaurant manager had called the local fire brigade, SES and police. No one was injured.
The sign would be restored as soon as possible, Ms Barlow said
