BIG Fish Little Fish Swim School’s in Narre Warren and Doveton are collecting children’s items for the victims of the Victorian bushfires.
Paula Olsson, one of the centre’s operators, said the bushfires had pulled at her heart strings.
“Last year I had a small kitchen fire, which affected me greatly, but these people have lost absolutely everything,” she said.
Ms Olsson is collecting items for the children involved in the bushfires such as dummies, soap, toothpaste, pens, pencils, crayons, colouring books and jigsaw puzzles.
“Our donations are aimed at the children to try and give them back some happiness,” she said.
Ms Olsson is calling on the community to support the initiative.
“We want people to donate usable items. Every little donation helps,” she said.
Ms Olsson is hoping to deliver a trailer of goods personally to the families in Whittlesea.
“If I can’t deliver it myself then we’ll go through the Australian Red Cross to make sure the items get to the people in need,” she said.
People wanting to donate can drop the items off at the Freeway Sports Centre, corner of Princes Highway and Doveton Street in Doveton or the Rebound Leisure Centre, 5 Rebound Court, Narre Warren.
For details call Paula Olsson on 0425 825 592.
