Finals fight for RSL

CRANBOURNE RSL Bowls Club will play a do-or-die home final against Coatesville on Saturday.
The victor will be promoted to Division Two and will progress to the Section Seven final the following day.
Last Saturday saw the RSL defeat Cheltenham by 25 shots, but the players will have to lift in the finals this weekend.
Team selection will be interesting, considering three rinks were victorious.
Scores: Cranbourne RSL 113 d Cheltenham 88. Peter Somers 34-17; Mal Watkinson 33-24; Greg Dore 27-21; Neil Drummond 19-26.
Cranbourne RSL’s Division Five side played Heathmont on Saturday, but was unable to maintain its recent form and found the opposition too strong.
The RSL finished the season in fifth place.
Meanwhile, Ryan Drummond won the club’s 2008/09 Coaches’ Award on Saturday night.
Some of the favourites fell behind in the early counting and it came down to the final votes before Drummond was announced as the winner.
