HAMPTON Park Bowls Club’s division four and six sides earned promotion with respective victories on the weekend.
The Parkers won three rinks against Cranbourne on their way to a 22-shot success at home in division four.
But Hampton Park was unable to reproduce its form against Mulgrave Country Club in the sectional final the following day.
Fred McBrian, Larry Simpson, Geoff Ladner and skip Graham Slight won 24-20, while Pat Moevasa, Lance Davis, Ken Cobden and skip Bob Woodfield enjoyed a 28-13 triumph.
Jim Westwell, Arthur Parish, Geoff Ampt and skip Neville Hendrie emerged victorious 23-21 on the final three ends, while Sean McDonald, Zac Storm, Andrew Brandolin and skip Lionel Williams came from a long way down to lose 26-28.
The change from a fast green on Saturday to a slow green on Sunday found the Parkers struggling.
Mulgrave Country Club, on the other hand, was familiar with the conditions and won the section flag by 13 shots.
Sean McDonald, Zac Storm, Andrew Brandolin and skip Lionel Williams went down 11-32, while Pat Moevasa, Lance Davis, Ken Cobden and skip Bob Woodfield came from 19 shots down to succumb 22-24.
Jim Westwell, Arthur Parish, Geoff Ampt and skip Neville Hendrie won 28-25, while Fred McBrian, Larry Simpson, Geoff Ladner and skip Graham Slight triumphed by five shots.
The Parkers’ division six squad overcame Riversdale Golf by 36 shots at Berwick.
Les Unwin, Greg Pentland, Bob Nicol and skip Mark Paton won 33-20, while Ray Wood, Alan Wilcock, Allan March and skip Bill Webb finished well for a 26-19 success.
Gerry Cox, Allan Unwin, Paul Barna and skip Robert Naismith went down 26-27 in a cliff-hanger.
Bob Meaney, Jos Van Hout, Nick Wings and skip Rob Woff triumphed 40-23.
Hampton Park also played Mulgrave Country Club in the division six sectional final and lost by 34 shots.
Gerry Cox, Allan Unwin, Paul Barna and skip Robert Naismith dropped a couple of big ends in their 19-30 defeat, while Les Unwin, Greg Pentland, Bob Nicol and skip Mark Paton were beaten 20-30.
Ray Wood, Alan Wilcock, Allan March and skip Bill Webb went down 12-25, but, after being down all day, Bob Meaney, Jos Van Hout, Nick Wings and skip Robb Woff snatched a 22-22 draw.
