A STEERING committee has been put in place as the Urban Design Framework (UDF) for Narre Warren starts to take shape.
The new committee will hold a meeting later this month, according to City of Casey manager strategic planning Liam Hodgetts.
The group is made up of relevant Casey Council departments, councillors, the Narre Warren Chamber of Commerce and representatives of State Government departments including the Department of Transport, VicTrack, Department of Planning & Community Development, VicRoads and Melbourne Water
The purpose of the UDF is to provide a specialised and detailed strategy for the precinct, which includes Webb Street.
Mr Hodgetts said the views of Narre Warren’s business and residential community would have a significant bearing on the final form of the UDF.
Narre Warren Chamber of Commerce president Bob Burns said the chamber would be an enthusiastic part of the steering committee. “It’s an exciting project that has been needed for many years,” Mr Burns said.
The project is expected to be completed by mid-2010.
