DOZENS of bags of rubbish were collected last Friday as students from a Narre Warren school participated in Clean Up Australia Day.
Heritage College has taken part in the program for 11 years, and this year more than 240 students, teachers and parents removed rubbish from Wood Street Park and the playground area near the school along Centre Road.
Event co-ordinator Ruth Acuna said the students, from Prep to Grade 6, were enthusiastic about caring for and conserving the local area.
Principal Mike Dye said joining the Clean Up Australia Day initiative was a tangible way students and staff could make a difference.
