BIG Fish Little Fish Swim Schools in Narre Warren and Doveton loaded a Salvation Army truck with pens, pencils, colouring books and jigsaw puzzles for the children affected by the Victorian bushfires.
Paula Olsson, one of the centre’s operators, said she was overwhelmed by the response she received from the community.
“We collected more than we ever expected,” she said.
“We had phone calls from the community donating lots of goodies and an elderly lady from Hallam made up 30 toilet bags.”
Ms Olsson said the donations were aimed at the children involved in the fires in an effort to give them back some happiness.
“Our thanks go out to the community for supporting the initiative.”
