STAR performers at Hallam Valley Primary School have hopped, skipped and jumped their way to becoming high fundraisers for the Heart Foundation’s Jump Rope for Heart program.
Students at the Narre Warren school were awarded the title during a recent presentation after raising $5199 to go towards life-saving research into Australia’s biggest killer, cardiovascular disease.
Jump Rope for Heart has been operating in Australian schools for more than 25 years.
Principal Debbie Pekjovic said the program was popular with the students.
“The students learn about healthy activities and teamwork skills that will benefit them for a lifetime,” she said.
Heart Foundation Victoria CEO Kathy Bell said the positive and practical program was a fun way for children to be physically active.
“We believe this type of opportunity will enable many children to grow into healthy and active adults,” she said.
Ms Bell congratulated the students and teachers at Hallam Valley Primary School.
“We also appreciate the generous support from the community for sponsoring the students and helping them achieve this remarkable achievement,” she said.
