SCHOOL captains at Maramba Primary School were handed their badges during a school assembly, attended by Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan.
Assistant principal Sue Peterken said the students were chosen after a lengthy and thorough process.
“The students had to apply for the position last year, give a speech to their peers, and then students voted for who they thought should represent the school.”
“The children who were successful had to participate in another process which included problem solving and performing tasks. The teachers choose from successful applicants, looking at their qualities.”
Ms Peterken said the school captains were co-operative, empathetic, independent, and showed strong leadership skills.
Mr Donnellan presented the captains with their badges last Monday.
The captains will attend Young Leaders Day in Melbourne on 16 March.
