A GROUP of golfers from Marysville joined golfers from Sandhurst Club to launch a fund-raising event to help re-establish Marysville Golf Course.
The Marysville Sandhurst Challenge will be held on Tuesday 21 April, and will utilise both of the 18-hole championship courses at Sandhurst.
The event will raise funds to help restore the golf course, an important part of the social and economic infrastructure of Marysville. Sandhurst Chairman Ken Roche and Sandhurst Golf Club Captain Paul Ferrari both said the establishment of the Marysville Sandhurst Challenge would provide the sporting community of Victoria an opportunity to help out. The Marysville Golf course clubhouse is still standing, but bridges, greens, fairways, landscaping, golf carts and new watering infrastructure were severely damaged in the fire. Dave Stirling, manager of the Marysville Golf Club Pro Shop, said the event will provide a great rally point for the golf and bowling club, and is a positive event in the recovery strategy.
Golfers who want to rally and show their support can contact Sandhurst club on 8787 7011.
