A NARRE Warren student is showcasing her artwork at the Melbourne Museum as part of the 2009 Top Designs Exhibition.
Kiara Selimi’s Luscious Illusion product packaging presentation, which features a logo, designer shopping bag and merchandise tags for a women’s vintage-inspired fashion boutique, will be shown in the exhibition until Sunday 26 July.
The year 12 student from Haileybury College in Keysborough is one of 31 visual communication students from around the state to have their work on show at the museum.
The 2009 Top Designs Exhibition allows the best and talented arts students to show off their artistic skills for the general public to see.
Kiara said it was a great feeling to have her designs at the Melbourne Museum.
“It feels very satisfying knowing that all of my hard work has finally paid off,” she said.
It took the budding designer three months to complete the project, from generating the initial ideas to producing the final presentation.
“People might think I’m crazy for putting so much effort into the presentations but it’s my passion. I love designing,” she said.
Kiara hopes to study graphic or fashion design at university.
“I’m also considering doing a combined degree with business so I can turn Luscious Illusion into a reality,” she said.
“It’s my dream to open up Luscious Illusion. I would use my love of fashion design to create concepts for clothes, shoes, bags and accessories.”
Kiara said she loved being able to express her creativity through art.
“With just a piece of blank paper and a pencil, I can use my imagination to design anything I want,” she said.
