MORE than 850 performers including dancers, singers, bands and choirs entertained crowds of about 3000 people at last Saturday’s Casey Cares fundraising bushfire benefit concert.
The charity concert, which honoured the community bushfire heroes, was a way for the community to thank the emergency services involved with the Victorian bushfires.
Police, St John Ambulance, SES volunteers and the CFA attended the event at Hillcrest Christian College, which raised around $8000 to support the local emergency services organisations.
Neighbours television star Matthew Werkmeister was the master of ceremonies with River Gum Ward councillor Wayne Smith, while Australian Idol top-10 finalist Sophie Paterson rocked the stage with a number of performances.
