A WOMAN was flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital after she was thrown from a horse in Narre Warren North on Sunday morning.
The 29-year-old woman was riding in Lysterfield Lake Park when the horse bolted and threw her off.
She suffered a suspected fractured pelvis, two fractured wrists, grazes and swelling to the left side of her face. Intensive care paramedics from Dandenong and an ambulance helicopter called to the scene at 9am. Paramedic Mark Wallace said crews arrived within eight minutes and were let in by a park ranger.
“Given the potential for a spinal injury we fitted a neck brace to the woman,” he said.
“We splinted both her wrists and a drip was put in her arm giving her pain relief and fluids to help stabilise her condition.
“She was moved to the ambulance helicopter on a spine board and flown to hospital.”
