STUDENTS at Hillcrest Christian College in Clyde North got VIP treatment by witnessing what happens behind the scenes of a live radio broadcast.
Melbourne Christian radio station Light FM 89.9 set up their studio at the junior campus on Monday 27 April.
The crew arrived at 4.30am, and began broadcasting shortly after, playing music, entertaining audiences, and interviewing staff and students.
“A handful of students show-ed up at 6am,” marketing and promotions manager Stuart Alsop said. “But by the end (of the broadcast) the whole school was there, about 200 students from Prep to Year 12, and some of their parents.”
Students were also fed a pancake breakfast organised by the student leadership group, and were entertained by a dance group called ‘Glow’ and a balloon artist for junior students.
Mr Alsop said the students enjoyed the activities as well as the live broadcast.
“Students had a great time and thought it was interesting,” he said.
“We regularly advertise with the station, so it was nice they could come out. They are actively going around to different schools, getting into the community, and connecting with their listeners.”
