Business dollars for traders

FOUR trader associations in the City of Casey will receive $2000 every year from Casey Council, to boost the groups’ activities.
The money will be part of the council’s 2009/10 budget allocation and beyond.
The recipients are Narre Warren Chamber of Commerce, Hampton Park Networking Group, Cranbourne Chamber of Commerce, and Berwick Chamber of Commerce.
In return, they will need to spend the money on business development, training, or marketing to assist businesses in the municipality.
Council will request from the trader groups a statement at the end of every financial year explaining how they spent the money.
Cr Sam Aziz put the motion to Tuesday’s council meeting, and Crs Wayne Smith and Simon Curtis endorsed the idea, which the meeting carried unanimously.
