TONGAN dancers entertained guests at a dinner dance as the Rotary Club of Narre Warren raised $27,000 towards a school renovation project in Tonga.
More than 15 members from the club will travel to Tonga in late June to install lights and fences, paint classrooms, create ramps for wheelchair access and lay an asphalt assembly area at the school.
The trips are all self-funded by the Rotarians involved, according to president Ian Pickering.
The club held a dinner dance and auction night to raise the money for the project on 18 April at Somerville Place in Hampton Park.
More than 200 guests attended the night and were entertained by Tongan dancers, including the club’s member Aho Uaisele.
“We were also fortunate to have the services of the very talented Mark Andrews, who entertained us with three shows,” Mr Pickering said.
