DRUMMER Jeremy Buswell is gearing up to play alongside Aussie rockers You Am I at the Hallam Hotel later this month.
The Narre Warren South musician has been playing the drums for Melbourne based rock band Dark Horse since late 2004.
Jeremy told the News he has been playing the drums for 11 years, after signing up for lessons during secondary school.
“I find music and beats are always drumming through my head,” he said.
“So playing the drums is a great way to express myself.”
Dark Horse, who are set to record their debut EP in the coming months, also played alongside Juke Kartel earlier this year and the Screaming Jets last year.
The New Zealand born drummer said the upcoming gig at the Hallam Hotel would be the bands first time performing at the venue.
“We’ll be playing around six songs during the 30 minute slot,” he said.
There’s nothing better than performing on stage, according to Jeremy.
“Eventually we’d like to support some more big names at larger venues and play at music festivals,” he said.
“And one day we’d like to be picked up by a top recording label. Everyone has faith in their music but we have what it takes to get to the top.”
The band, with lead singer and guitarist Adam Eaton, Brett Burnell on guitar, Liam Burke on bass guitar and backing vocals and Jeremy on the drums, have a 90s hard rock style with a touch of blues.
The 24-year-old draws his inspiration from Brad Wilk who plays the drums for Rage Against the Machine.
“This band got me into rock during the transition from pop music,” he said.
“He’s a solid drummer who doesn’t go over the top.”
Jeremy said the band would never perform a song in front of a crowd unless they were all 100 per cent happy with it.
Dark Horse will be taking centre stage at the Hallam Hotel on Thursday 28 May at 10.30pm.
