Women brush up on finishing touches

By Lia Bichel
DRESSES, make-up, and accessories were the subject of a personal grooming workshop at Hallam Community Centre.
Facilitator and image consultant Sue Doogan gave more than a dozen women helpful hints on how to dress to impress with simple techniques, such as adding a belt to their ensemble or colour co-ordinating their threads.
“It was fabulous. Everyone was excited about the ideas they learned,” manager Dianne Wilson said.
“There was so much interest and not enough time so we are organising another session to teach women about applying make-up.”
Ms Wilson said the workshop is one of four held at the Community Learning Centre in May. They are aimed at empowering women and improving all aspects of a woman’s life.
“It’s about improving women’s self-esteem, and also helping women who have just had a baby get back into the workforce,” she said.
The centre also offered two finance and budgeting sessions on 13 May and held a life reflection workshop at 7pm yesterday (Wednesday) and noon today (21 May).
“Life Reflection will help residents find their inner strength, recognise their past achievements and give them the confidence to take chances,” Ms Wilson said.
A communication workshop will also be held at 7pm on 27 May and noon on 28 May.
Anyone interested in participating is urged to book now, as spots are limited.
All sessions are free as it is funded by the City of Casey.
