THERE’S no place like home for local mentoring program Big Brothers Big Sisters.
After almost six months in temporary accommodation at the Andrews Centre in Endeavour Hills, Big Brothers Big Sisters now has a permanent home in Hallam, giving staff the ability to expand their services.
The organisation provides support for vulnerable and disadvantaged children who are lacking a positive adult role model in their lives. The mentoring program is based on the simplicity and power of friendship.
Team leader Rebecca Wolstenholme told the News she was thrilled with the move. “We have entered into an initial two year lease which will assure the community that we are here to stay,” she said.
Part of Big Brothers Big Sisters’s new phase of development includes a business strategy with the aim of involving volunteers to assist with fundraising and promoting the organisation.
Ms Wolstenholme said they were always looking for volunteers who might like to become a Big Brother or Big Sister but were now keen to open the doors to the community wanting to help in other ways.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is located at Factory 16, 94 Abbott Road in Hallam.
