VICTORIA’S police Chief Commissioner, Simon Overland, touched base with local police last weekend as he joined an operational unit in the South East.
A police media spokesman said the Chief Commissioner got first-hand experience of the day-to-day policing efforts in the area and had the opportunity to see the issues confronting the members.
Media reports claimed the state’s top cop spent Saturday night in the Narre Warren and Berwick areas, at the request of local police.
Highlights of the night for the Chief Commissioner apparently included conducting an interview with an alleged vandal, and attending a local domestic.
