STUDENTS at an Endeavour Hills primary school are using iPods, video conferencing, gaming devices and blogs as learning tools in the classroom.
Mossgiel Park Primary School is one of 32 Victorian government schools sharing in a $200,000 Brumby Government technology grant, recently receiving $6000 from the 2009 Innovating with Technology program, according to Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan.
Mossgiel Park Primary school will use its grant to develop ways of delivering enhanced literacy, numeracy, science and Languages Other Than English (LOTE) lessons using a range of technologies. Principal John Wall told the News the school was delighted to receive the funding boost for the innovative learning project.
“This research project will enable us to not only use computers as learning tools, but also monitor the effectiveness of using them,” he said.
The students and teachers at the school will document the progress and experiences while developing the learning project, and post the finished product on the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development website.
“We’ve already started it and received very positive feedback from both the students and their families.”
