STUDENTS at a Narre Warren school dressed up as their heroes to help raise money for the Australian Childhood Foundation’s Childhood Hero Day.
Batman and Superman were some of the heroes spotted at Fountain Gate Primary School on Friday, with the students raising $209 for the Australian Childhood Foundation.
The funds will be used to provide specialist counselling services for children recovering from abuse.
According to the Australian Childhood Foundation, child abuse is Australia’s most critical community problem.
Last year 317, 526 new reports of child abuse and neglect were received throughout the country – one report every two minutes.
More infants under the age of 12 months were found to have been abused or neglected than children in any other age group.
