Idol event seeks fresh talent

GUY Sebastian, eat your heart out! Casey Idol auditions will be showcasing some of the hottest talent from all ages on 31 July, 1 August and 3 August at Casey Council’s Narre Warren offices. River Gum Ward councillor Wayne Smith will be producing the event, with the Hampton Park Progress Association being the event’s major sponsor.
This year, the competition has expanded to include all age groups and all types of acts including singing, solo and duet dances, comedy, juggling and magic.
The three categories will be ‘Primary School’ age, ‘Secondary School’ age and ‘Open’ age. Competitors must either live, study or work in Casey. The final will be staged at the Arthur Wren Hall in Hampton Park from 7pm on 29 August.
“The hall is one of the largest in Casey and was a fantastic venue for the 2007 final,” Cr Smith said.
“We’ve also, once again, engaged Hampton Park resident Cesar Calderon and his ‘Pro-live Sound’ business, to provide all lighting and sounds services for the final.”
All performers will be required to pay a competition entry fee of $10 at their audition. Support crew members will be required to pay the gold coin donation audience fee to attend the auditions. Performers who choose to attend any other auditions will be required to pay the standard gold coin donation per audition session.
