MARKETING student at Monash University, Stephanie Rep, is part of the first group of students taking their studies from the classroom to the workplace.
The 21-year-old told the News she jumped at the chance to work as a marketing assistant with PZ Cussons as part of the Work-Integrated-Learning program at the Berwick campus.
The program, which was launched earlier this year, enables students to develop work skills and enhance their practical knowledge in a business environment.
The university students spend 40 working days with their host organisation, applying the theories they learnt during their tertiary studies.
Ms Rep started the part time work at the Dandenong organisation in April.
She said working closely with her colleagues at PZ Cussons had proved invaluable for the transition from university to work.
“It’s great being a part of the community at PZ Cussons. I’m treated as an important member of the team and my work is regarded as important as anyone else’s,” she said.
“This boosted my confidence and gave me the opportunity to work to the best of my ability.”
