Made to measure up

A SHOWCASE of artworks by established and emerging local artists was held recently as part of the Casey Winter Arts program.
Caseymade, held at The Factory Rehearsal Centre for the Arts, displayed works by artists of many ages and abilities across a wide variety of forms including painting, printmaking, photography, drawing and sculpture.
Deputy mayor Daniel Mulino said it was the first time the council had run a community art exhibition of that scale as part of the Winter Arts Program.
“An exhibition such as Caseymade reminds us of the talent that exists and the artistic endeavour that is undertaken within our municipality all year round,” he said. City of Casey manager arts and leisure Robyn Bowen said the exhibition featured the works of a wide range of artists who all share a passion for art and the common link of Casey.
“The City of Casey supports visual artists in a number of ways, including professional development workshops, an online arts directory, networking functions and grant funding opportunities,” she said.
Artists can now apply to exhibit in the 2010 Civic Centre Art Space Exhibition program.
Applications to exhibit in the art show close on 17 August.
Application forms are available through the council’s arts officer on 9705 5200.
