Sisterly awards

RESIDENTS were recently presented awards by the City of Casey to mark International Sister Cities Day.
Volunteer residents received awards for assisting in the maintenance of global friendship values in the City of Casey.
International Sister Cities Day promotes the work that volunteers do with their sister cities.
The City of Casey is a sister city with Berwick-Upon-Tweed, UK, and Springfield, Ohio, USA. It also has a friendship city relationship with Ermera, East Timor. Casey Global Friendships Advisory Committee member councillor Wayne Smith congratulated the volunteers for their contributions.
“The aim of the Global Friendships Advisory Committee is to improve peaceful coexistence worldwide, and what we are learning every day is that world peace begins right here, with us,” Cr Smith said.
Presentations were made to Bert Ainge, Michele Halsall, Evelyn Jolayemi, Brenda Miller and John Miller, Kay Morland, Saleh Parkar, Stephanie Valena, Kay Vrieze and Syd Pargeter, on behalf of his wife Pearl Pargeter, who passed away in September last year.
