FASHION designer Sid Umesh is adding the final touches to his new line of men’s T-shirts in the lead up to summer.
The Berwick designer, who developed his first line of Hsemu T-shirts last year, says this year’s trends will feature more of a simple style, with black and white being popular colours.
The 23-year-old said he first began creating T-shirts because he thought there was a lack of new and fresh designs in popular retail stores.
“I could see in the local area and when I went into the city that everyone was wearing the same tees,” he said. Mr Umesh spent time researching famous big brands such as Ksubi and Mooks and joined forces with a business partner to kickstart the label Hsemu.
“We do all the designing of the tees here in Berwick and then ship them over to China where they are made,” he said.
Mr Unesh said it was a two-month period from the design of the T-shirts to the finished product.
His funky creations, starting from $49, target men aged from 15 to 25 years.
The tee shits come in sizes small, medium and large.
The self-taught fashion designer is currently working in the fashion industry at Hizz menswear store in Westfield Fountain Gate.
The new line of Hsemu T-shirts will be available in the store at the start of next year.
Ms Umesh is hoping to expand his line to include men’s jeans in the next couple of years and eventually has the goal of breaking into the women’s fashion industry.
“At the moment, I’m only catering for 50 per cent of the population and I’d like to attract 100 per cent,” he said.
“Women’s fashion will be a lot harder because I don’t know anything about it yet. But I’m willing to learn.”
