NOMINATIONS are open for the Endeavour Hills Community Father of the Year Award, for local dads doing their best to be great dads.
The annual event, run by the Endeavour Hills Leis-ure Centre, celebrates the roles fathers and other male role models play in the community.
It acknowledges that ordinary people can have an extraordinary impact on children’s lives.
Children are invited to nominate their father or father figure by writing or drawing about why they are special to them.
“We know that fathers and father figures have an incredibly important role to play in their children’s development, and this award is really aimed at raising awareness about the importance of fathering in our communities,” Leisure Centre manager Simon Beqir said.
Nomination forms are available from the centre or by visiting ww.ehlc.ymca.org.au. Nominations close 17 August. Each nominee will receive a YMCA Family Swim Pass.
The Victorian Father of the Year will be announced on Thursday 27August.
