Bye bye to blues

KILBERRY Valley Primary School students told the story of summer time dreams at the J-Rock eisteddfod this month.
More than 50 students joined the host of other students from across the state who took part in the rock eisteddfod challenge at Highsense Arena in Melbourne this month.
Students from the Hampton Park school performed Summer Time Dreams, a story centred around a boy and girl who had been asked to write a story about what their ideal summer would be.
Each school received three awards for their performance, and Kilberry Valley Primary School was credited for excellence in choreography, soundtrack and set design and function.
Performing arts teacher Jess Crea said the students loved the opportunity to be on a big stage after they worked so hard.
“They had an awesome time. We had such a fun time and it was a really good experience for them,” Ms Crea said.
She said the students did well to withstand some adverse rehearsal conditions, as renovations at the school meant the students sometimes practised in tight spaces.
Ms Crea said teachers at the school were excited about what they might come up with for next year’s competition.
