On 20 September, The Frankston Music Society will present their 2009 Proms Concert ‘Across the Atlantic – The Best of British and American’, where they will be joined by a number of talented local performers.
The Frankston Symphony Orchestra and Mornington Peninsula Chorale will entertain with their love of everything British, but will look across the Atlantic in 2009 to the world of music from America.
The concert will feature a large range of favourites, including Summertime and Rhapsody in Blue by Gershwin, excerpts from Rodeo by Copland, music from Guys and Dolls, Colonel Bogey by Alford and Jerusalem by Parry.
The Proms concert will also feature Timothy Lawrence’s Overture for the Modern Hero, the 2009 winning entry of Monash University Music Society’s Composition competition.
Special guests include award winning soloist, virtuosic pianist, composer and performer Stefan Cassomenos and talented 17-year-old solo vocalist and stage performer Ashleigh Harbinson.
