Police honoured

By Kelly Yates
The event was held at the City of Casey council offices in Narre Warren, with 16 police members receiving national medals for their service.
Some of the awards handed out on the day included the Victoria Police Service Medal and the Victoria Police Service Medal 15 year, 20 year and 30 year clasp, the National Medal and the National Medal first clasp, and the 35 Year Service Award.
The Victoria Police Service Medal is presented to both sworn and unsworn employees who have completed 10 years of diligent and ethical service to Victoria Police.
A clasp to the medal is given for every five years additional service.
The National Medal, which is part of the Australian system of honours and awards, recognises 15 years of diligent service by members of the various defence, police, fire and ambulance services.
Casey Inspector Andrew Miles said he was very proud to recognise the service that the members had provided to the local residents in Casey and Victoria Police.
Casey Traffic Management Unit (TMU) Senior Constable Allen Inderwisch received the Victoria Police Service Medal from Region 5 Assistant Commissioner Paul Evans.
Sen Const Inderwisch said it was nice to have his efforts and commitment recognised by the police department.
“We work hard every day to serve the community and this shows that our work does not go unnoticed,” Sen Const Inderwisch said.
