POLICE are calling for witnesses after a serious assault at Berwick train station over the weekend.
According to police, a 34-year-old man from Berwick was waiting on the platform for a city bound train when he was approached by another man carrying an empty bottle at 4.30am on Saturday.
The man sat beside the victim for a short period before smashing the bottle in his face.
Police said the offender then stole the man’s satchel bag which contained an Acer branded lap top computer and fled to the railway station car park.
The offender jumped into a black four-wheel drive, similar to a Ford Territory, which sped off towards Clyde Road.
The man is described as being aged 19 to 20, slim to medium build and bare chested with a tanned complexion.
He was wearing a red cap, red bandanna around his neck, low riding jeans with red boxer shorts half exposed.
