Author gives kinder tips by the book

MORE than 100 kindergarten staff gathered at the City of Casey’s annual Kindergarten Conference on 27 August, where popular Australian author Hazel Edwards was the keynote speaker.
Ms Edwards is best known for her book ‘There’s a Hippopotamus on Our Roof Eating Cake.’
“She was very insightful and vivacious and was a real crowd pleaser. I know that many of the participants learnt a lot from her and will implement some of her teaching in kindergartens across Casey,” City of Casey children’s services manager Colette McMahon said.
Kindergarten staff also took part in a number of workshops to broaden their existing skills and knowledge, and had the opportunity to network with other professionals.
City of Casey mayor Geoff Ablett said the conference provided an opportunity for like-minded professionals to keep up-to-date with current research and practice to integrate into kindergartens across Casey.
“I’m sure that following Hazel’s attendance at the conference there will be many more children reading her books,” Cr Ablett said.
