Treasure Island adapted

Gabby Wilson will take centre stage as Pirate Ecknick in the BATS Theatre Gabby Wilson will take centre stage as Pirate Ecknick in the BATS Theatre

AUDIENCES will be taken on an adventure as actors from BATS Theatre Company perform Treasure Island during the September school holidays.
The pantomime, which includes acting, singing and dancing, will be performed at the Cranbourne Community Theatre on Monday 21 September 21 at 7pm, Tuesday 22 September at 1pm, Wednesday 23 September at 11am and 7pm and Thursday 24 September at 1pm.
Director of Treasure Island Dale Mills said the show was adapted from the original story, with a rag-tag bunch of misfits and less-than-able pirates setting out to find hidden treasure.
“It is great that we have been able to work with such a young cast, with a lot of them being first time actors,” he said.
“There aren’t many opportunities in this area for kids that age to get experience rehearsing and performing. Many of the lead characters have done an outstanding job on their first show, with nearly the whole cast aged under 18.”
Committee member of BATS Theatre Company Susan Collier said it was amazing to see how far the actors had come from their first reading of the script.
“I am extremely excited to see the production complete and on stage,” Ms Collier said.
Tickets cost $10.
For bookings call BATS Theatre Company on 9704 6026.
