Finals plans hit fever pitch

By Kelly Yates
BERWICK footy fans Ash Bourke and Jo Cary are feeling the footy finals spirit as St Kilda and Geelong get ready to go head-to-head at this weekend’s grand final match.
Ash told the News she had decorated her house with red, black and white streamers and balloons in the hope that the Saints would bring home the winning flag.
The 20-year-old says the game is both an exciting and nervous time.
“This is the first grand final I’ve ever been to. I’ll be getting to the MCG nice and early on Saturday,” she said.
Ash will be upholding a superstition and plans to wear her Saints jersey to the final like she did for last weekend’s clash with the Bulldogs.
“Winning that game was the best feeling I have ever experienced,” she said.
Ash believes the Saints will have a good crack at winning the grand final.
“It will be pretty awesome if we win. The boys have had a good season,” she said.
Cats fan Jo, 17, says that after last year’s loss, Geelong is now ready for the good times.
“If they win I’ll be heading to Federation Square in Melbourne to watch the team presentation. But if they lose I’ll be drowning my sorrows,” she said.
