Volunteers to teach teachers

FRIENDS of Ermera are looking for volunteers to provide training to 30 teachers in East Timor.
Friends of Ermera, a community-based organisation in Casey since 2002, want three volunteer ESL/ EFL teachers who will provide their training for four months, starting February 2010. The successful applicants will implement a professional development program for secondary school teachers of English in Ermera District, above Dili, in Timor Lest.
ESL/EFL qualifications and experience in professional development, program design and delivery are required. Previous overseas experience is desirable. The volunteer package will provide a pre-departure program, travel expenses and a modest living allowance.
The Supporting Teachers of English Program (STEO) began in the Ermera District in November 2008 as a Pilot Program working with 13 teachers. The program has been well-received in Timor Leste.
Applications close on 5 October. Contact Friends of Ermera president Jan Tresize for a detailed position description at gjtresize@e-vision.com.au
