MEMBERS of the Narre Warren North Red Cross Unit gathered last Thursday to celebrate their unit’s 70th birthday.
President Noela Black said the milestone was made all the more special by the recent discovery of the original minute books, written by hand and dated 1939.
Ruth Crofts, president of the Casey-Cardinia branch of the National Trust, was guest speaker.
Mrs Black said the unit currently had 24 members who met at the Narre Warren North Guides Hall on the first Thursday of every month.
The unit is actively involved in Red Cross Calling and members collected all their five-cent pieces to donate to Red Cross appeals.
