LATE night revellers in need of a safe ride home can access the NightRiders’ services, detailed on the City of Casey’s website.
The nightrider bus began services in Casey in November last year in a bid to decrease the cost and improve the convenience and safety of late night transport.
City of Casey manager of transport Paul Hamilton said there has been a steady increase in the number of people using the NightRider service in Casey, with 1912 people catching it since it began.
“The primary aim of the service is to provide transport for people returning from Melbourne, but as it also goes past a number of Casey venues, it also provides transport to local entertainment venues within Casey,” he said.
The bus operates on Saturday and Sunday mornings along a designated route to and from Melbourne’s CBD to Dandenong and then continues to Cranbourne, Narre Warren, Berwick and Beaconsfield.
There is also a freecall phone on the bus, so passengers can arrange for a taxi, friends, or family to meet them at drop off points and pick them up.
Buses depart from Dandenong on Saturday mornings every 30 minutes in alternate directions between 1.30 and 5.30am and depart on Sunday mornings between 1.30am and 7am.
Details about the service, including a Google map pick-up and drop-off points, are available on the website www.casey.vic.gov.au/publictransport.
