Casey may give women a lift

By Kelly Yates
A PROGRAM to help long term unemployed and disadvantaged women get work could soon be coming to Casey.
Four Oaks Ward councillor Shar Balmes raised the issue of implementing the Fitted for Work program, which is aimed at helping women who want to re-enter the workplace, at last week’s council meeting.
Cr Balmes said Fitted for Work was a volunteer based organisation which offered women business clothing, presentation and interview skills and also helped build self confidence.
“The thought of re-entering the workplace for women who have been out of it for 10 or 20 years is often quite overwhelming,” she said.
“The Fitted for Work initiative helps with the transition process.”
Cr Balmes said there was a need for the program in Casey.
A report by the council officers is set to come back to the council in March next year.
